Thanks for visiting Anglers for a Cure Inc. (AFC). We are an IRS 501(c)(3) Public Charity and Florida-based
non-profit corporation which seeks to raise funds for colorectal cancer research and to raise awareness of the importance
of early detection and screening in fighting this disease. To date, AFC has raised over $50,000 in support
of the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA), co-founded by Katie Couric and Lilly Tartikoff. The
primary fundraising event for our organization is an annual inshore fishing tournament held in Jacksonville, Florida. Funds are generated for this very important cause through the generosity of individual, family and corporate
sponsorships and donations and the registration of tournament entrants. We are striving for 25% annual
growth in tournament participation and financial support.
Anglers for a Cure, Inc. was co-founded by teen anglers and longtime friends Jordan Carroll and Matt Hahnemann
in 2006, after Jordan’s father, Doug Carroll, was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer in late 2004. The young
men sought to combine their love of fishing with a fierce dedication to helping find a cure for a disease which claims the
lives of over 50,000 Americans each year. Detected early enough, this cancer can be beat in 90% of cases. Jordan’s beloved
dad passed away just 2 weeks after the 1st Annual Anglers for a Cure Tournament, knowing his family and friends would continue
on in his memory through the work of AFC.
